SINUVA Sinus Implant

What are Nasal Polyps?

Nasal polyps are inflammatory growths along the lining of the nasal and sinus passages that can lead to congestion and obstruction and loss of smell.

While medical therapy such as topical or oral steroids can provide temporary relief, oftentimes they are not completely effective and sinus surgery may be required. Unfortunately, recurrence of nasal polyps is one of the leading causes of repeat sinus surgery.

Complaints of Nasal Polyp Patients

  • Nasal Congestion or obstruction
  • Facial pain or pressure
  • Runny nose
  • Reduced sense of smell

Innovation for Nasal Polyp Sufferers

Dr. Michael Bublik is among the first in the United States to offer the SINUVA sinus implant, recently approved by the FDA to treat nasal polyps in adults who have had previous ethmoid sinus surgery (ESS). SINUVA is a non-surgical option that is placed during a routine physician office visit.

SINUVA’s innovative technology utilizes a 2-in-1 approach: it is designed to open in the sinus cavity and deliver anti-inflammatory medicine to treat nasal polyps. The implant softens over time and may expelled out of the nose on it s own or through sneezing or nose blowing. It can be removed at 90 days or earlier at Dr. Bublik discretion.

Non-Surgical Treatment Option

During a routine office visit, Dr. Bublik will numb your nose and sinuses with topical and/or local anesthesia. Then the SINUVA sinus stent is delivered into the sinus cavity through the nasal opening.

What is SINUVA Sinus Implant?

SINUVA is a treatment for nasal polyps and may be an alternative to sinus surgery and other treatment options. The implant opens in the sinus and delivers anti-inflammatory medicine to treat nasal polyps.

SINUVA is a nasal polyp treatment without surgery:

  • Delivered into the sinus cavity through the nasal opening during a routine office visit
  • Usually cannot be felt once it’s in place
  • Removed at 90 days or earlier at your doctor’s discretion

How well does SINUVA work?

  • SINUVA is proven to shrink nasal polyps and reduce nasal obstruction and congestion.
  • As it stays in the sinus and continues to release medicine, SINUVA offers sustained relief from nasal congestion/obstruction up to 90 days.
  • In addition, SINUVA has been shown to improve a patient’s impaired sense of smell.

How is SINUVA placed?

SINUVA is placed in your doctor’s office. After numbing your nose, Dr. Bublik will introduce the SINUVA implant into your nostril on the end of a delivery system, and place the implant within your sinus.

FDA Approved

It is clinically proven and FDA approved for the treatment for nasal congestion and polyps. Patients with a known hypersensitivity to the mometasone furoate drug or any of the ingredients in SINUVA should not use SINUVA. The area around SINUVA should be monitored by a physician for any signs of bleeding, irritation, infection, or perforation.
